russian navyWith Russian Navy lacquered nails Bridget sits and swivels in her chair. Her cheeks blush as she talks about her boyfriend , DJ whom surprised her with dinner and Cirque Du Soleil tickets in honor of their three-year anniversary. They met at New York University, and have been inseparable everyday since. I asked her where she went for dinner, and could not help laughing at her response, “Italian, pasta, ughh carbs- it’s a problem!” Tall and skinny, Bridget’s long brown hair wraps around her left shoulder, as she looks down at her nails and comments on how she needs to stop biting.

A Long Island girl at heart, Bridget says what she wants, and is proud of her Italian, Irish, Scottish and Norwegian heritage. I ask about her parents, and she jumps into a great love story. Bridget’s mother lived in California and her father in NY. They were long distance high-school sweet hearts, and when it came time for prom, her father would not allow her to go with anyone else. He jumped on the next plane and they danced together all night. I comment on how great that is, her eyes look away and she says, “Yea well they are divorced now.” I move on quickly to ask about siblings, “One older brother he is twenty-two.” Her childhood cat, Moby makes it difficult for her to go home, because she has developed an allergy to him. She speaks Spanish fluently, and is embarrassed of her addiction to Perez Hilton; “I can’t help it” she smiles.

Communication studies is definitely the path she intends to pursue, and has already had many internships to compliment her resume. Epic Records was her first internship, and is where Bridget openly fell in love with Lil’ Wayne. “I am going to his concert tonight!” She then landed her current position at Cosmopolitan Magazine. The fashion closet is her domain, a place where senior editors request “bubblegum pink skirts and red platform Mary Janes.” Her favorite brands include Marc-by-Marc Jacobs, and American Apparel. I quickly imagine her life to be The Devil Wears Prada, I ask for all the juicy details, and about the rumored “skinny, anorexic, psycho” magazine employees. She giggles and says, “I eat Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and they hate me.” I could only imagine the faces she receives while opening the orange wrapper.

Fashion is not the only thing this active Scorpio cares about; in her high-school days the soccer field was her runway. Bridget played center forward and led the team to many victories. She is the kind of girl that would much rather be snowboarding in Vermont, and having hot chocolate slope side. However, she does admit that Starbucks Signature hot chocolate is preferred, and has to stop herself from indulging daily. I guess you cannot take all the “Cosmo” out of her.
